Alvis was born on August 31, 1951, in Chattanooga, Tennessee, to Alvis and Evelyn Smith (nee Stephens). Throughout his life, he exemplified love, compassion, and dedication in all his roles. Al was a beloved husband, a devoted father, a cherished paw paw, and a true friend to all who had the pleasure of crossing his path.

Alvis is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Eva Smith, who stood by his side through thick and thin, sharing countless precious memories and building a lifetime of love and companionship. He will be deeply missed by his children, Kim (Phillip) Kirk and Tim Blair (Michelle Burnett), who were blessed to have him as a caring and supportive father. Alvis adored his grandchildren, Hunter (Rachel) Kirk and Kaleb Bryan, and their presence brought immense joy to his life. He took pride in watching them grow, nurturing their dreams, and being a source of unwavering love and encouragement.

Aside from his dedication to his family, Al had a deep passion for NASCAR and spent many enjoyable hours following the exhilarating races. The final arrangements for Alvis have been entrusted to Companion Funeral and Cremation Service, Chattanooga Chapel, where his departure will be honored and commemorated.
