Arlene Samuelson Obituary, Death – Betsy McCormick, a professor at the University of Tulsa, passed away on Friday, and the campus is in mourning over her passing. In 2005, Betsy became a member of the teaching staff at the University of Tulsa College of Law. There, she established and led the Immigrant Rights Project, which is a law school clinical education program in which law students represent clients in matters pertaining to immigration law.
Betsy’s tenure at the College of Law began in 2008 when she took on the role of director of clinical education programs. In 2015, Betsy was promoted to the position of associate dean for experiential learning. She was given the position of associate dean for academic affairs in the year 2020, and then in the year 2021, she was given the position of interim dean of the College of Law. Betsy was a teacher who worked with students in the Immigrant Rights Project.
In addition to that, she was a teacher who instructed students in Immigration Law, International Refugee and Asylum Law, and Professional Responsibility. As a legal educator, she devoted a significant portion of her life’s work to the College of Law, and more specifically to clinical education. She will be sorely missed by the TU community because of her dedication to these fields. During this challenging time of mourning, our thoughts and prayers are with Betsy’s whole family, as well as with Betsy’s students, coworkers, and friends at TU.
