Bernie Kovacevic Obituary, Death – Bernadine “Bernie” Kovacevic was a member of the Marcy family, and her passing has left our entire clan in a state of profound grief. Over the course of more than 30 years, she was a member of our family and was affectionately referred to as G.G. Bernie by all of our relatives. She will be remembered with affection and never forgotten. Bernadine “Bernie” F. Kovacevic, who was 100 years old and originally from Conneaut, passed
away at The Villa at the Lake on July 11, 2023. She was the daughter of Frank and Zella (Kelly) Hill and was born on November 24th, 1922 in the city of Ashtabula. The year 1941 was Bernie’s year to graduate from Ashtabula High School. During the Second World War, she was employed by a number of factories in the Ashtabula and Conneaut areas. Bernie worked at the Marcy Funeral Home as the greeter for more than 30 years before she finally decided to retire shortly after her 95th birthday. She was a part of the Irish Colleens, the Conneaut Historical Society, and the New Leaf United
Methodist Church all at the same time. Bernie was an election clerk in Conneaut for a good portion of his adult life.
Bernie delighted in activities such as golf, bowling, card games, gardening, growing flowers, going out to dine, cooking and baking, particularly her world-famous pies, and travelling with her husband Joe to a number of other states and France. Among her surviving family members are her daughters Sharen Jo Lysiak, who resides in Blasdell, New York, and Janet (Tom).
