Bryan Collins Obituary, Death – Bryan Collins, who was the defensive coordinator for the Stony Brook football team and the head football coach at Lengthy Island University for a lengthy period of time, passed away on Saturday morning due to a cardiac event, according to his family. Collins had been the defensive coordinator for the Stony Brook football team. He was 58.
Collins was the head coach of the LIU football team for 23 years, beginning in 1998 and lasting until 2021. During that time, the club made six trips to the NCAA tournament and won eight crowns in the Northeast-10 Conference under Collins’ direction. He finished his tenure as the program’s head coach with a record of 162–84 and seven times earned the award of Coach of the Year.
He was the most successful coach in the program’s entire history. In addition to that, 12 of his players have been honored as All–Americans thanks to his coaching. Collins held the position of defensive line coach for Stony Brook University for the two years 2021 and 2022. In January of the following year, 2023,
he was given a promotion that allowed him to take over as the defensive coordinator for the Seawolves. He received his bachelor’s degree in business administration from St. John’s University in 1987, where he also played linebacker for the school’s athletics department and attended classes. Aside from that, Collins served as the Director of Athletics at LIU from the years 2006 to 2017.
