Connor Allen Obituary, Death – The Grundy County Sheriff’s Office responded to two separate accidents in the morning of Monday, June 10th, 2023. The first collision happened two and a half miles east of Dike on Old Highway 20 (D-19) on 160th Street, where a bicyclist was hit by a vehicle. In his 2018 Jeep, Dike resident Dennis Koch, age 89, was traveling westbound on old Highway 20 (D-19) when he collided with a bicyclist traveling in the same direction who was riding on the roadway.
Dike Ambulance sent Cedar Falls resident John Keiser, who was riding a bicycle, to Mercy One Cedar Falls for treatment of injuries that are still unclear. Koch received a ticket for operating his vehicle in a dangerously close proximity to a bike. The second accident took place in a rural area three miles south of Parkersburg and was located in the 22,000th mile of the 120th highway. An unrestrained passenger named Connor Allen, who was 17 years old and from Reinbeck, was pinned under a UTV that flipped after the driver of the UTV, who was a minor, lost control of the vehicle.
At the site, Allen’s death was confirmed by medical personnel. When the driver of the UTV lost control of the vehicle, he was attempting to steer clear of colliding with a fence. The juvenile driver was taken to Mercy One Waterloo for treatment of injuries that were not considered to be life-threatening. The inquiry into this accident is still ongoing. Along with Grundy Center Ambulance and the Iowa State Patrol, the Parkersburg Ambulance, the Parkersburg Police Department, the Butler County Sheriff’s Office, and the Grundy County Sheriff’s Office all provided assistance to the Grundy County Sheriff’s Office.
