The Contra Costa County Coroner’s Office has been successful in determining the identity of the pedestrian who was struck and killed by an automobile in Walnut Creek on Monday afternoon. At around 1:11 p.m. on Ygnacio Valley Road east of Lennon Lane, a car jumped a curb, resulting in the death of Cornelio Tovar Sanchez, who was 54 years old and from Antioch. Walnut Creek police arrived on the scene and found Sanchez to be awake and attentive. Despite this, the officers noted that Sanchez had incurred substantial injuries. Unfortunately, after being transported to the hospital, he did not survive his time spent there and was pronounced dead.
