Joe Ricci Obituary, Death – I wish I had some good news today on this “Hump Day.” With great sadness, my dear and close friend Joe Ricci passed away yesterday 7/11/23 at the age of 63 from an aggressive cancer. You may have seen Joe himself or his cars on my channel that I worked on and fully restored for him. The one most recently was that ’68 Zenith Blue with the three fold ragtop that we put in, the other was the 3 fold ’54 oval ragtop. https://youtu.be/sXU5kFTkClg
You can look back at those cars earlier on my channel. He has owned several VWs that have come through our shop. Joe was dear to my heart, we had breakfast every Saturday morning at my shop, talked VWs, went to shows, cruisin, business, friendship, you name it, he was family. Last time I saw Joe was when he picked up the ’68 I finished for him. He drove that bug home early April of this year, and started to feel unusual tense pain around his back to his abdomen. Couple weeks later they found cancer on his liver and lungs that was moving fast. Chemo could not stop this viscous disease. I met Joe over 10 years ago when he walked into my shop looking for a bug, we became great friends after that, he was part of our close pack, I was honored for him to be in my wedding party five years ago.
Not only was he a great friend, but someone I could look up to, a mentor, he was a great business and family man. I feel like I just had lunch with him yesterday having laughs, it crushes me to know that I have lost another dear friend of mine within 2 years. My man Lucky Larry said it to me straight yesterday, we have to be thankful that we wake up every morning living, breathing, doing the things we love. Life can come up out of nowhere and bite you, and you would not see it coming. Live the best life you can, we are here for a good time, not a long time. I will miss him dearly! Love ya Joe.
