Jose Villegas Obituary, Death – Jose Villegas, a loving husband, devoted father, and cherished grandfather, passed away on Tuesday, July 11, 2023, at Doctors Hospital at Renaissance in Edinburg, Texas. He was 92 years old. Jose Villegas was born on July 11, 1931, to Pedro Villegas and Leocadia Moreno Villegas in Mexico. He grew up surrounded by a loving family and developed a strong work ethic from an early age. Throughout his life, Jose exemplified dedication, resilience, and a deep commitment to his loved ones. In his youth, Jose’s adventurous spirit led him to pursue various opportunities in Mexico before eventually settling in Texas.
He embraced the challenges and rewards of building a new life for himself and his family, establishing a legacy that would endure for generations. Jose Villegas was a man of profound faith, finding solace and strength in his relationship with the Lord. His devout spirituality guided him through the trials and triumphs of life, providing a foundation of hope and unwavering support for his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Pedro Villegas and Leocadia Moreno Villegas, his brother Daniel Villegas, his sisters Cesaria Villegas, Vicenta Villegas, Clara Villegas, Guadalupe Villegas, and his grandson Pedro Villegas Jr.
Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife, Julia Villegas, with whom he shared a lifetime of love and companionship. He will forever be remembered by his sons Jose (Betty) Villegas and Pedro (Ofelia) Villegas, and his daughters Angelica (Fernando) Zuniga, Leocadia (Alfredo Vega) Villegas, and Julia (Benito) Rodriguez. Jose also leaves behind his brother, Aurelio Villegas, who shared a special bond of brotherhood and support throughout the years. His presence will be deeply missed by his 16 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, who were a source of immense joy and pride for him.
Visitation to honor the life of Jose Villegas will be held on Wednesday, July 12, 2023, from 3:00 pm to 9:00 pm, with a Prayer Service at 7:00 pm at Salinas Funeral Home – Chapel of the Angels in Elsa. A Chapel Service will take place on Thursday, July 13, 2023, at 10:00 am at Salinas Funeral Home – Chapel of the Angels. Following the service, Jose will be laid to rest at Val Verde Memorial Gardens in Donna. Jose Villegas will be remembered as a compassionate man with an unwavering devotion to his family. He leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and resilience that will continue to inspire all those who were fortunate enough to have known him. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
