He was surrounded by the love of his family and friends at the time of his passing. Everyone who knew Makram felt a deep affection for him due to his kindness, concern, and limitless laughter. His generosity knew no limitations, and he made a discernible impact in the lives of others around him, both in the immediate area and further afield.
Since 2018, he has been on the Board of Directors of the Magdi Yacoub Global Heart Foundation, and throughout that time, his generosity has been very clear to us. During this time, Makram assisted in guiding the growth and expansion of Sir Professor Dr. Magdi Yacoub’s vision for Aswan Heart Centre and the new Magdi Yacoub Global Heart Centre in Cairo. This greatly advanced our mission to dramatically change the healthcare outcomes of those who are suffering from heart defects across Egypt and the surrounding region. In addition, Makram was a key contributor to the development of our mission.

He is survived by his loyal wife, Shadia, his beloved son, Marc, his compassionate sister, Aida, and a large number of friends and family members all over the world. Makram Yanni Nicolas will be remembered for all time for the extraordinary trip he took and the unflinching love he had for his family. His legacy will live on in individuals whose lives he improved via his kindness, generosity, and care for others, as well as in the work he did.
