Manny Hernandez Obituary, Death – Commander Manny Hernandez, the fourth Commanding Officer of the USS Spruance, passed away this month in San Antonio, Texas, and his life and service are being remembered and celebrated. From 26 May 2015 until 2 December 2016, Manny was in charge of SPRUANCE, guiding it through operations in the Eastern Pacific alongside the USCG and Pacific Island allies. In 2016, he led a Pacific Surface Action Group (PAC SAG) in the South China Sea. Manny was the perfect choice for captaining operations that spanned thousands of miles of water and required flexibility because of his dedication to the mission and the SPRUANCE crew.
We would do well to follow Manny’s lead, which centered on serving others. The present crew of the SPRUANCE is thankful to him for his service and fully supports his family’s wishes. Because Manny Hernandez was in charge of USS SPRUANCE, she became better. Thelma Christine Becerril – Hernandez and I have been in communication, and the funeral and burial of Manny will be conducted with full military honors. See below for details. The Quiet Warriors would like to express their gratitude for everyone’s thoughts and prayers for Manny’s family. Sincerely and with the utmost respect, Captain Chris Ivey, DDG 111, USS SPRUANCE (DDG 10) “Begin the Assault!”
