Marshall David Obituary, Death – Marshall David Beach, a veteran of the United States Navy’s submarine service during the Cold War, passed suddenly on June 28, 2023, at the age of 72, due to an unexpected illness.Dave Beach was born on November 10, 1950 to Lester and Mary Seward Beach in Carlsbad, New Mexico. In his youth, he spent time seeing the world and helping out on the family farm in Durango, Colorado. After high school, he dabbled in college before deciding to join the Navy like his dad did. During the Vietnam War, he served on both diesel and nuclear submarines.

Dave and his first wife, who he met in Hawaii, eventually married and had a son, Travis. Dave, after his time in the military, became a civilian employee at the Naval shipyard in Bremerton, Washington. Dave bought a convertible and relocated to Arizona after he reached the conclusion that life is too short to be spent in the rain. His future wife, Margie, was among others he met there. After saying “I do” in January 2001, they spent the next 22 years doing everything they could to make their marriage work. Dave’s passions included his family, his wife, and the outdoors. He took great joy in spoiling his grandchildren.

He led multi-day backpacking treks into the Grand Canyon and was a co-leader of the Verde Valley Skyliners Hiking Group. He developed a passion for birdwatching thanks to his annual volunteer work at the Verde Valley Birding and Nature Festival. He and his wife, Margie, took advantage of every opportunity to travel across the United States, and he particularly enjoyed coin collecting, reading, and puzzles.

Dave lost his mother, Lester Beach, and his father, Mary Hess, as well as his siblings, Steven Beach and Susan Dowler. His wife, Margie Beach, his brother, Jon (Amy), his sisters, Judy Warwood and Becky (John) Hofeldt, his son, Travis Beach of Washington, his stepdaughters, Vada Taylor of Iowa and Liz (Johnny) Gooslin of Cottonwood, eight grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and a large extended family of nieces and nephews all survive him.
