Marvin Mings Obituary, Death – Oscar Ming and Nettie Rhoulac had Marvin in Panama City, Florida in 1926. He was Methodist. He was calm and liked educational and historic presentations and significant occurrences. Marvin loved music, but folk music and Bob Dylan were his favorites. He liked fried chicken, seafood, collard greens, and chitlins. His wife was gorgeous and a great cook. Marvin attended Rosenwald High School till 1944.

He married on May 28, 1947, and had 7 lovely children. He joined the US Army in 1945 and served in Vietnam, Korea, and Germany and France. He spent 1962–1964 in Paris, France. He served our country for 26 years. During his service, he received the Bronze Star, World War II Victory Medal, Army of Occupation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and American Campaign Medal.

However, his Army Construction Engineer work was his biggest achievement. His military experience influenced his worldview and shaped him at home, at work, and throughout his life. After retiring in 1972 in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, he went to Panama City, Florida, his hometown. He briefly worked at the paper factory.

He worked as a letter carrier for 16 years before retiring in 1990. He donated to Habitat for Humanity, M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, the USO, Feeding America, Alzheimer’s Disease Research, and the World Life Fund during retirement. He celebrated his 60th wedding anniversary with his lovely wife and mother of 73 years. He had surprise 90th and 96th birthdays.

In June, he embraced Jesus as his personal Savior, answering his wife’s and family’s lifelong desires. Gregory Leonard Mings, Sr., Dana Lynn Lee, and Gertha Lenard Mings died before him. His son, Marvin E. Mings (Lori), and daughters, Debra Petty, Natalie Sharpe (Edward), Tanya Mings, and Maria Meredith (Princelliott), survive him.
