Paul Sheets Obituary, Retired Detective Sgt At North Myrtle Beach Police Has Passed Away

Paul Sheets Obituary, Death – It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Retired Detective Sergeant Paul Sheets on July 19th, 2023. A distinguished, admired, and respected member of the City of North Myrtle Beach, Sgt. Sheets served his community with honor and dedication for over 30 years.

Sgt. Sheets’ passion for sports led him to play Center for the Appalachian State Football Team from 1982 to 1986, wearing the number 68 with pride. Following his football career, he pursued a calling in law enforcement, joining the North Myrtle Beach Police Department in 1988 as a uniformed patrolman.

His dedication and outstanding performance earned him the role of Vice/Narcotics Detective, where he served on the DEA Task Force and the Tactical Meth Team. Sgt. Sheets’ commitment and expertise led to his promotion to Sergeant over the Criminal Investigations Division, a position he held until his retirement in 2019. Standing tall at 6’4 and 295 lbs, Sgt. Sheets’ commanding presence was matched only by his larger-than-life sense of humor.

Those who knew and loved him could hardly think of him without sharing a laugh. Beyond his professional achievements, Sgt. Sheets was a devoted family man, a loving husband to his wife, Mimi, and a caring father to his two daughters, Shelby and Darby. The family will receive friends and loved ones for a viewing at McMillian-Small Funeral Home from 3 pm to 6 pm on Sunday, July 23, 2023. A funeral mass will be held at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church at 11 am on Monday, July 24, 2023, followed by burial at Southern Palms Memorial Gardens.

After the services, all who loved Sgt. Sheets are invited to gather at OD Arcade and Lounge to celebrate his life, sharing cherished memories and stories. Please keep Sgt. Paul Sheets’ family and loved ones are in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. His dedicated service and indomitable spirit will be deeply missed, but his legacy of love and laughter will forever live on in the hearts of those he touched.
