Renee Oden Car Accident: Wednesday morning, a head-on collision between a Chevrolet SUV and an Audi SUV that occurred early in the morning on St. Charles Road near Hill Avenue in Elmhurst resulted in the death of a woman from Chicago. Firefighters were able to free the driver of the Chevrolet SUV at the scene of the accident. Renee Oden, 37, a resident of Chicago, was recognized by the coroner’s office in DuPage County on Thursday. Oden was declared dead at the scene of the incident.
In addition, a boy aged 4 years old and a girl aged 2 years old were extracted from the vehicle. The youngsters were taken by ambulance to Loyola University Medical Center, where they are being treated for critical injuries. The Audi SUV had only one passenger, and she was an adult woman. She was the driver. She was taken by ambulance to Elmhurst Hospital, where she was treated for serious injuries.
The collision took place not long after 5 a.m., and the road was blocked off until approximately 11:30 a.m. while first responders inspected the scene of the accident. The preliminary findings, according to the police department, suggest that the Chevrolet SUV, which was heading eastbound on St. Charles Road, began to drift over the centerline and crashed head on with the Audi SUV, which was traveling westbound on St. Charles Road. Elmhurst police and the office of the coroner for DuPage County are conducting an investigation into the collision.
