Susana Herrick Obituary, Connecticut Dentist and Lacrosse Coach Died In An Accident

Susana Herrick Obituary, Death – Dr. Susana (Barraza) Herrick, 44, of Glastonbury, Connecticut, went tragically suddenly in Miami, Florida on June 24, 2023. Zachary D. Herrick adored his wife. Susana Barraza, the daughter of the late Manuel Barraza and the late Ana (Pinedo) Barraza, was born in Elmhurst, New York. In Glastonbury, she ran Herrick Family Dentistry as its proprietor.

Susana is survived by her husband and mother, her two daughters Isabella and Gabriella, her sisters Karina Towne and Mariela Winter and husband Jeremy, all of Ridgefield; her brother Roberto Barraza and his wife Marisol, of Pennsylvania; her sister Monica Barraza, of Argentina; her in-laws Michael and Carolyn Herrick, of Norwich; her brother Nathan Herrick and his wife Lin, of New Jersey; and her in-laws Aaron Herrick and his wife Lin, of Norwich. Susana’s brother-in-law, Harris B. Towne III, passed away before her.

“Sue” Susana graduated from Sacred Heart Academy in 1997. She continued her education at Central Connecticut State University, where she made history as the school’s first female lacrosse player. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology from CCSU in 2002. Sue enrolled in dental school at the University of Connecticut in 2004 and earned her DMD in 2008.

She worked as an associate at Galvin & Round Family Dental from 2009 until 2015 after completing a one-year general dental residency at Hartford Hospital. Sue joined Herrick Family Dentistry as a partner in 2015, and by 2018 she had bought out her business partner to become the sole owner.¬†Sue’s two daughters, Isabella “Izzy” and Gabriella “Gabby,” were the greatest sources of pride in her life.

They participated in a variety of sports, and she enjoyed watching them. Sue loved taking her family to the Rhode Island beach, going to the CrossFit gym, coaching young lacrosse and hoops, and going to concerts with her loved ones. After being married for nearly 15 years, Zach found in Sue the perfect wife. Her warm laugh and wide grin left an impression on everyone she encountered.

On Friday, July 7, 2023, at 9:00 AM, there will be a Mass held at St. Paul Church, 2577 Main Street, Glastonbury. The Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Ave., in Glastonbury, will be open from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 6, 2023, for friends to pay their respects.
