Wineva Acosta Obituary, Death – Wineva Breaux Acosta, 85, died of natural causes on Monday, July 10, 2023, in the evening in Patterson. Wineva Breaux’s birthday is January 28th, 1938, and she is the eldest of Theodore and Adeline’s five children. Wineva, a long-time Patterson resident and native of Pierre Part, was heavily involved at St. Joseph Catholic Church, serving on the Bereavement Committee, the St. Joseph Altar, and as a housekeeper and chef for three prior priests. Having a strong belief in God and a devotion to the Blessed Mother, she prayed the Rosary every day. For 25 years, until her retirement in 2000, she worked as a Cafeteria Technician for the St.
Mary Parish School Board at both Bayou Vista Elementary and Patterson High School. Those who had the privilege of knowing her will mourn her loss. Her nine grandchildren, Heather Guarisco and her companion Sarah Domino Forgey, Aimee G. Hebert and her husband Jeremy, Kristi G. Crouch and her husband Keith, Zoe A. Thames and her husband Michael, Luke Acosta, and Cole Acosta will always cherish her memory. Her three children, Wilson Acosta Guarisco and her husband Wayne, Wilson Acosta Jr. and his wife Cindy, and Heidi Acosta Silvia and her companion Matthew Marsiglia will also cherish her Sister Anita Percle and her husband Aubrey; ex-son-in-law Charles W. “Billy” Croker II; and a large number of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends also survive her.
Her parents, Theodore J. “Theo” Breaux and Adeline Berthalot Breaux, as well as her brother, Howard J. Breaux, and two baby sisters, Eleanor and Betsy Breaux, as well as her son-in-law, Ronald M. Silvia Jr., and great-grandson, Dylan Slatten, all predeceased her. On Monday, July 17, 2023, at 11:00 AM, friends and family are invited to assemble at Ibert’s Mortuary in Patterson, where the Holy Rosary will be recited at 12:15 PM, followed by dismissal from the funeral home to church at 12:30 PM.
On Monday at 1:00 PM, Father Herb Bennerfield will preside over a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Patterson. Wineva will be laid to rest in the mausoleum at St. Joseph Cemetery after the Mass. Chase Croker, Luke Acosta, Cole Acosta, and Wilson Acosta Jr. will serve as pallbearers. Wayne Guarisco and Mark Percle will also be involved. We want to thank everyone who helped take care of our mom, especially her longtime caregiver Sunshine Hebb at Journey Hospice, Patterson Healthcare Center, and Vital Care of Morgan City.
